Jamie Jardine, works officer at Chelsea Foundation, has been named as the winner of this year’s Peter Osgood award.
The Peter Osgood award was established in 2016 to recognise a Chelsea Foundation staff member who has demonstrated the characteristics of commitment, dedication and spirit that the legendary Blues striker was known for.
Lynn and Darren Osgood along with Sam Gaskin-Kemp, head of community and education at Chelsea Foundation, presented the award to Jamie at Stamford Bridge, much to his surprise prior to Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Liverpool last Sunday.
Jamie’s role sees him work with over 200 young people every week in schools across London and Surrey on a range of topics to support areas outside of mainstream education. He has been commended by teachers for his empathetic, caring and patient approach, which has made a real difference to the students he works with.
Above all, Jamie was chosen as the recipient of the award because of incredible commitment to the values of the Foundation, as well as his fantastic work ethic, which also sees him give up his free time to help coordinate the ball squad on home matchdays at Stamford Bridge.
Lynn Osgood (pictured above second from left) said: ‘It is always an honour to be able to present this award in Peter’s name. Jamie was visibly surprised to be named this year’s winner, but his attitude and dedication to Chelsea Foundation embodies everything this award represents and he thoroughly deserves it!’
Jamie said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to receive the Peter Osgood Award this year. I love the work I do for the Foundation and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see how much the Premier League Inspires programme has grown over the past few years. I believe we are making a real difference in the community and it’s fulfilling to see participants engage and thrive through the programme. As a lifelong Chelsea fan, winning an award named after a legend such as Peter Osgood is a proud and special moment for both me and my family.’
