Cole Palmer was pleased to make it back-to-back wins with victory at Crystal Palace and believes the togetherness within this Chelsea squad is starting to make its presence felt on the pitch.

Cole Palmer set up two of our goals as we came back from one down at half-time to beat Crystal Palace 3-1 in a dramatic finale at Selhurst Park, adding to the impressive away win by the same scoreline at Aston Villa in the FA Cup in our previous match.

The forward believes it was important to get back to winning ways in the Premier League and build on the performance at Villa Park, although he admits they had to step things up in the second half to secure last night's victory over the Eagles.

'It was an important win after the recent results and performances, so to go there at a tough ground and get the three points was good, I think it will be a big boost for us,' said Palmer.

'The intensity in the first half was a bit slow, a bit sluggish. We went in at half-time and had a little chat, then when we came back out we changed, we went up a gear.

'The gaffer said it was all good him telling us about tactics and stuff, but it’s down to us to show some intensity, play forward, be brave, and that’s what we did.

'At half-time we just had a bit of an intensity switch, went up a gear and thankfully we got three points. It was a big win first at Villa and then to come here and win again is good for the team and our momentum.'

Palmer isn't getting ahead of himself after those back-to-back wins over Villa and Palace, though. He knows there is still plenty more improvement needed, but believes the togetherness shown by the team among themselves and with the Chelsea supporters at Selhurst Park and Villa Park gives us a promising foundation to continue building.

'We’ve only won two games in a row, so it’s not like we’ve gone on an amazing run, but if you look at the last two performances, the togetherness is getting there, the way we’re playing is improving,' he added.

'It’s all about improvement at this stage of the team’s development. We’ve got so many new players, which isn’t an excuse, but it is difficult. But you’ve seen in the last two games we’re just trying to stick together through our development of the team and just keep going.

'It’s a close bunch of lads, we’ve been there for each other all season. Performances haven’t always reflected that and you can see the fans have reacted, but we’re trying. The team are sticking together and there are little moments, things gelling together more and good moments like this.

'At this moment in time it’s not about looking at anyone ahead of us. It’s just about focusing on ourselves and putting in the performances.'

He will next have the chance to continue building on that improvement on familiar ground, when we travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Palmer's former club Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
