Pedro Neto played all 90 minutes for Portugal as they ground out a 0-0 draw with Colombia to earn top spot in Group K and a place in the World Cup 2026 knockout round.

The fixture was a straight contest where the winner would claim top spot, but in the end, Portugal did so with a draw. And although neither side managed to break the deadlock in Miami, it was the South Americans who had most of the chances.

Of 37 shots attempted, Colombia fired 24 towards Portuguese stopper Diogo Costa, their most on record in a World Cup match since 1966. Neto contributed to the attack with one chance created and completed 83.3 per cent of his 36 passes, and might've got on the scoresheet had a cross from Joao Felix not narrowly evaded him.

An end-to-end first half saw Camilo Vargas make an excellent save to block a close-range effort from Bruno Fernandes, while Ruben Neves fired his shot just wide. Yet Colombia grew in confidence and threatened to take the win with their performance after the break.

There was some late drama when Colombia's Davinson Sanchez thought he had clinched the three points in stoppage time as he netted with a header at the back post, only for it to be ruled out by a very tight offside decision.

That ruling meant that Portugal clinched first position in Group K and advanced to the knockout stages along with Colombia and DR Congo from their group. Neto and co. will now play Croatia in the Round of 32 in Toronto on Friday 3 July at midnight UK time.
