Pedro Neto was pleased to help the Blues pick up three points in Atlanta, scoring the opener in our 2-0 win over LAFC, and he made sure to shout out Nicolas Jackson for his part in the strike.

The 25-year-old lit up the Mercedes-Benz Stadium with an impressive strike, cutting inside before firing hard and low into the bottom corner, to give the Blues the lead heading into the break.

Enzo Fernandez made sure to double our advantage after the midfielder converted Liam Delap’s delivery, giving us our first Club World Cup victory of the campaign.

Talking us through his goal, Neto thanked Jackson for his crucial assist, helping set the winger loose to run at LAFC’s backline.

‘I remember seeing the defender coming and I just chopped the ball back and shot,’ Pedro explained.

‘Nico and I always speak outside of the pitch about the way we want to combine with each other. This time, I just ran behind and Nico gave me the ball. I have to thank him for the pass because he was joking with me because I didn’t thank him. I will say now, thank you very much Nico!’

Turning his attention to the game, Neto feels the Blues worked hard for the victory against a resilient LAFC side.

‘I’m just really happy to help the team, we worked well,’ the winger continued.

‘The team did a really good job. We came here and did a good job and we are really happy. I’m always focused on myself and doing my job, and I’m here to help the team.’

He was also pleased to see the impact new signing Delap had on proceedings after the striker came on for his Chelsea debut in the second-half, helping set up Enzo’s goal.

‘I have trained with him a few times, and he’s a guy who is in the team to help and we’re really delighted he’s here with us. He has shown the character he has.’
