Pedro Neto feels that the ‘patience’ shown by Chelsea in our win over Wolves at the weekend can benefit the Blues going forward.
Enzo Maresca’s side brushed aside the Premier League’s bottom club 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, with all three goals coming in the second half once we finally broke through a stubborn Wolves rearguard.
Neto was one of the goalscorers, netting our third following earlier strikes from Malo Gusto – his first for the club – and Joao Pedro and the winger explains why all games are difficult in this league, no matter where you are in the standings.
‘Premier League games are always difficult, whether you’re playing the team in first or the team in last,’ the Portugal international said following the win over his former side.
‘I thought we played an intelligent game to be honest. In the first half, it was hard to break them down but that’s always the case when a team plays with 10 players behind the ball.
‘However we were patient, we did a good job and we got our rewards in the end. Three goals, three points and we are all very happy.
‘Wolves were very compact and it was difficult for us. I think they played in this way because they know we are very good in the offensive areas, but we stayed patient and I think we deserved the win in the end.’
Neto’s goal came courtesy of a pinpoint pass from Alejandro Garnacho, who had also set up Gusto for his header with an inch-perfect cross.
Our No.7 was full of praise for the Argentine, who he believes is settling in well to life at Chelsea and can continue to help the team.
‘I’m really pleased for Garna and he did a great job for us,’ added Neto.
‘He’s been working really hard and he’s getting his chance in the team and he’s taking it right. Two assists in this game, a goal the other night in the Champions League and we’re really happy with him.
‘He’s settling in well and you can see he is working really hard for the team both on and off the ball, he’s doing a really good job.’
