When he was a young boy, Pedro Neto watched Cristiano Ronaldo represent Portugal at the World Cup. Now our winger is lining up in the same team as him in the biggest tournament of them all.

Aged 41, Ronaldo is almost exactly 15 years older than Neto, but he is still making an impression at the top level.

Ronaldo has scored three goals so far this summer and will be hoping to add to that tally when Portugal take on neighbours Spain in a mouthwatering last-16 tie later today.

And as Neto detailed to us before setting off for North America, training and playing with Ronaldo offers him plenty of perks.

‘You learn a lot, you learn about motivation, you learn about hard work, you learn about stuff on the pitch,’ said Neto in an interview you can watch in full above.

‘It’s a dream come true and a proud moment as well to be playing alongside, in my opinion, the best player ever.’

Portugal’s game against Spain in Dallas kicks off at 8pm UK time on Monday evening when we will discover if Neto and Ronaldo’s World Cup journey this summer goes on.
