Continuing our summer series in which we ask the players to talk about one of our favourite images of them from the 2018/19 season, we speak to Ethan Ampadu who tells us about photo below.

It takes us back to November, and our hosting of PAOK in the Europa League campaign, a match we won 4-0…

‘We were celebrating Callum’s first Chelsea goal here,’ Ampadu explains. ‘It was a big moment for him. I always knew he was a good player and it’s been good to see a young team-mate and a friend do well. I was happy to be on the pitch with him when he scored.‘Cesc Fabregas is also in the picture. Technically he was different class. He stood out with his long-range passing, but not just that; the pockets he would get in, and the space he would find with his brain was a joy to see every day. I believe when I made my debut against Nottingham Forest I came on for him too so that is a nice thing.‘European games have definitely got a little bit of a different atmosphere about them. For me it was a good experience and I enjoyed it. They can be hostile. When I played away against Vidi it was quite hostile, and the fans abroad make a whistling noise which can make it hard to hear your team-mates.'
