Chelsea Women kick off our Women's Super League campaign against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and you won’t want to miss the souvenir-edition matchday programme.
There’s a special collage cover, which we’ve included as a pull-out poster as well, featuring the star-studded Blues squad for the season ahead, and inside you can read Millie Bright’s first captain’s notes as she settles into her new role skippering the side.
'When Emma told me that I was going to be taking over from Magda, I was absolutely delighted, as you can imagine,' Millie explains. 'For her to show that level of trust in me is a big thing, but even though I’ll be wearing the armband out there, nothing changes for me. I’ve always tried to be a leader anyway.'
Emma Hayes pays tribute to her late father, Richard – affectionately known as Sidi – and looks ahead to a London derby on the big stage.
'He loved these big occasions at the Bridge and was so proud of us getting things to this stage, where this magnificent stadium is becoming a home from home for us,' she writes.
You can also read an exclusive interview with Maren Mjelde, whose last-gasp penalties against Lyon made Stamford Bridge history last season. The experienced defender has high hopes for another memorable year ahead.
'Look at how we’ve performed in recent times,' she says. 'We’ve won the league four years in a row, the FA Cup three times, we’ve been in the Champions League final and many semi-finals, and we have some of the best players in the world playing for us.'
For all this and much more, be sure to pick up your copy from the programme sellers around the ground on Sunday.
