Our Under-18s recovered from going a goal down early on to secure three points in our first group-stage game of the Premier League Cup.

Our young Blues began their Premier League Cup campaign this afternoon with a comfortable victory over Barnsley at Cobham. Hassan Sulaiman's side showed their ability to create chances as we dominated from start to finish.

There were a number of changes from the side that played against Aston Villa in the Under-18 Premier League last week. That could explain the frantic start to the game as we lacked control of the match, and with 25 minutes gone the young Tykes took the lead with a great free-kick by Fabio Jalo.

Shumaira Mheuka had an early chance but the youngster could not get the connection needed to steer the ball into the net from Chinonso Chibueze's cross.

Going a goal down, woke us up though and we levelled the scores through Frankie Runham, who did well to finish after Michael Golding squared it to him in the box.

Two minutes later, we were ahead and it was Golding who from provider turned goalscorer, heading in from close range after a fine cross from Genesis Antwi.

Mheuka extended our lead just before the break as he used his strength to shield the ball in the box and then finish from close range.

We controlled most of the second half, without allowing Barnsley to threaten as we were camped in their half keeping the ball, before second-half substitute Saheed Olagunju headed home from a corner to give us a fourth.

Deep into stoppage time, Yoganathan finished well to Barnsley their side second of the game, but it didn't matter. That would be all the action as, after a slow start, it was dominance from our Under-18s to get off to the best possible start in a competition we won two seasons ago.
