Our boys return to Premier League 2 action following the international break with a game against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon at Kingsmeadow.

Saturday’s lunchtime fixture will be our development squad’s first game back after the international break and Mark Robinson’s men will be looking to build on some positive results in recent weeks.

Our last three fixture have seen us take five points from a possible nine as we sit in seventh place.

Last time out

Before the international break, our young Blues took on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Despite the point gained from this game, we were ahead by two goals going into the final 10 minutes.

Omari Hutchinson’s brace and a shot deflected in off Cesare Casadei had us in a 3-1 lead going into the final moments of the game but two late goals from the side from south London gave them a hard-fought point.

The opposition

Leicester City currently sit in ninth place and they have a very similar record in the league to our young Blues but have lost one more game than Robinson’s men.

Our opponents are winless in their last two league games after a narrow 1-0 loss to Liverpool and a heavy 4-1 defeat to Brighton.

Nevertheless, they do have the second top goalscorer in the league, Tawanda Maswanhise, with the midfielder having scored five in six games.

Last home game against the visitors

In our last home game against the team based in the East Midlands, we convincingly won 5-0 as Jayden Wareham, Joe Haigh, George McEachran and Ben Elliott all found the the back of the net.

Their goalkeeper on the day Brad Young also scored an own goal as our development squad cruised to victory in their first PL2 game of 2021.

This season's meeting gets underway at 12 noon at Kingsmeadow and tickets are still available to purchase online now.

In other Academy news, Kaiden Wilson has signed his first professional contract at the club having turned 17 last month. The Bristol-born defender was first identified by our scouting team at Under-14 level.
