Mauricio Pochettino believes Chelsea are a different beast compared to the team that lost at Liverpool last month ahead of our Wembley showdown.

Just over three weeks ago, Pochettino and his players suffered a bruising evening at Anfield as Liverpool ran out 4-1 winners.

When the two meet again in Sunday's Carabao Cup final, at the neutral venue of Wembley Stadium, we'll be coming in hot off the back of three strong results.

After winning on the road at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace before earning a battling point at Manchester City, confidence is high among the Blues, and Pochettino says the most recent meeting between the two finalists won't have any impact on what happens under the Wembley Arch at the weekend.

'It's true that this [game] is different,' said Pochettino. 'Because it's never the same approach playing in the Premier League and in a final, particularly in a neutral place like Wembley.

'Of course it will be different. You always learn from the games you play, too many things. We arrive in this game in different circumstances. So it is difficult to compare and say that games that we played in the past will have an influence.

'We learned Liverpool is a very competitive team, so we need to match that. We need to manage some moments during the games. But I think in the last few weeks, we have learned a lot and we arrive with very good momentum, in good condition.

'The last three games have given the team the confidence and the trust, but the circumstances are different. We will see how we arrive and they arrive, but for sure it will be completely different because it is a final and it is at Wembley.'

The majority of the squad will be representing the Blues in a major final for the first time, but Pochettino believes that can be a help rather than a hinderance as he chases the first trophy of his time at Stamford Bridge.

'Other finals never translate to this final. Of course it is history, so people pay attention. But when we prepare for the final, we are not thinking about what happened one year ago or two years ago.

'It is possibly a good thing [the players haven't experienced a Wembley loss] not to be affected from the past. In another way every player needs the experience of finals. Not in terms of the game, but the preparation and how you arrive.'

Our last two cup finals with Liverpool at Wembley have ended cruelly in a penalty shootout defeat following goalless draws.

Although Pochettino is looking to avoid that scenario on Sunday, he did reveal that the Blues have been practicing spot-kicks should they be required to settle the final.

'We are regular [with practicing]. We always shoot penalties in training. And then it’s completely different.

'Some coaches say you cannot replicate in training like how it is going to be in the competition, but of course also part of our idea is to practice penalties.'
