Mauricio Pochettino was 'so happy' to see Christopher Nkunku on the scoresheet for Chelsea against Brighton following the French forward's return from injury.

For the third game in succession, Nkunku was introduced from the substitutes' bench as he continues to regain full fitness. At the Amex, he played 60 minutes and struck our second goal as he netted smartly from a Malo Gusto cutback.

It marked the French international's first goal since January as his return to action goes from strength to strength.

The eventual winner proved a fitting reward for the 26-year-old, who has returned to the fold at an important time for the Blues.

Nkunku's impact off the bench at the Amex pleased Pochettino, who tasted victory in his 50th game in charge of the Blues.

'He was suffering a lot from injuries at the beginning of the season, said the Chelse head coach. 'It's been a very long period [injured], so he needs to now be consistent, consistent.

'He was so tired at the end and played only 60 minutes. I am so happy for him because he was suffering and now he scores goals and be involved with the team.

'I am happy for him first and of course for the team because we are adding a player who is very important for us.'
