There is good news for Chelsea ahead of tomorrow's trip to take on Liverpool, as Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Christopher Nkunku, Malo Gusto and Nicolas Jackson could all return for the game, although it comes too soon for two injured defenders.

Speaking ahead of the Premier League match at Liverpool, Mauricio Pochettino discussed his selection options for our midweek game, and confirmed that two of our French internationals are recovering well and could be back in action at Anfield.

‘It’s good news that I think Malo Gusto and Christoph [Nkunku] can be involved in the squad for tomorrow,' he said. 'They will travel with us and the team, that is the good news. Always, we are waiting for the last moment in case there is some surprise, but it is good news to have two players recovered to play.'

There is also a chance we could welcome Nicolas Jackson back after missing the last few weeks while representing Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, following their exit from the tournament last night.

‘Then, maybe or not, Nico can arrive for tomorrow and also be involved in the game. But that is if he can arrive in time from the tournament.’

However, the news isn't quite so positive on defensive duo Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah, although they aren't far away.

‘Levi is out. He suffered a minor injury in his tendon. He’s getting better and it’s not a big issue but he is going to be out for tomorrow.

‘Trevoh is really close, he is doing so well. I think it’s only a matter of time until he is going to be involved again, but he is doing really well.’

Outside of Chelsea, much of the attention at Anfield will be on our opponents and specifically their manager Jurgen Klopp, given this will be Liverpool's first Premier League match since the German announced he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

However, Pochettino is determined to hog the limelight by spoiling the farewell party on Wednesday evening, in a game he is very much looking forward to.

'It’s an amazing game to play, it’s a great opportunity for us to face a team that is doing really well. We are excited for tomorrow,' added our head coach.

'For us we want to win, I want to win the game. We go into the game just thinking about winning it.

'It’s a special game for him. Until the end it’s going to be special. Every time they play at Anfield it is going to be a party to celebrate and give him all the love the fans feel for him and I think he deserves it.

'But we are thinking to go there and win the game. Sorry, but we don’t want to be involved as part of the celebration. We want to be party poopers, but that is on us to perform well and win the game.'
