Mauricio Pochettino is hoping that four of his injured players will available for selection again when we return to action following the international break in a London derby with Arsenal on Saturday, but has ruled out Armando Broja.

Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow's Premier League fixture against Arsenal, Mauricio Pochettino updated on the fitness of some of the players in his squad hoping to make a return from injury in time to face the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.

However, with such little time to work on the training pitch between the end of the international break and our next match, our head coach admits there are still decisions to be made on a number of players' availability for this weekend.

'I think we need to assess now as we finished the training session a little bit late,' explained Pochettino. 'We need to assess Axel Disasi, we need to assess Nico Jackson, also Reece James we need to assess. Reece was training good the last few days and it’s now to talk about with all the medical staff and everything and then decide if he can be part of the squad tomorrow.

'Armando Broja is out because he’s irritated his knee a little bit, but it is the other knee, not the one that was a problem in the past.

'We have a few players we need to assess to see if tomorrow they can be available, can play or can be on the bench or maybe out of the list. Benoit Badiashile maybe can be available also for the match.'

However, he did confirm that both Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo look likely to be involved without any complications, after being the last internationals to arrive back at Cobham following their travel to South America.

'Enzo trained yesterday. Caicedo arrived yesterday in the afternoon and was checked with the doctor and was in a very good state. They both trained with us today with the group and I think they are ready.'

Pochettino also discussed right-back Malo Gusto, who made his senior international debut for France last week and is available for selection for Chelsea again after completing a three-match ban for his sending off in our last home league game against Aston Villa.

‘He is really young but is a great talent, maybe tomorrow he has the possibility to play,' added our head coach. 'It’s difficult to judge because when a 19-year-old comes from a different league like France, he needs to adapt to a different club, a club like Chelsea whose history is to win. It’s not about only competing or playing football, it is about winning.

‘In a project with very young players and with these circumstances also it is tough. But I am so happy because we really believe in him. For sure he needs time but I think he is going to perform in the way we really believe.

‘He is only 20 years old now but I am so happy. I wasn’t happy when he got the red card. I think it wasn’t a red card and when I saw the decision on VAR after, I thought it was crazy. But he is going to be good for the club, for sure.’

In addition to the squad news, Pochettino reflected on the latest international break coming to an end, admitting it arrived at an awkward time as we began to build a run of form with three wins on the bounce in all competitions, but is hoping the Blues can pick straight back up where we left off in the 4-1 victory at Burnley.

'80 per cent of the squad was out and some injured players, but I think it was good because today, after the international we had more than half-an-hour of meetings and then training, trying to prepare the game for tomorrow, because only today we have all the players around the squad ready to prepare the game.

'It was a shame because we wanted to keep the momentum and now it’s about building another momentum. But I think we are confident, the team is confident, the players have a different mood than one month ago.

'It isn't all positives. They are still fighting, but we are still struggling with some injuries or players that we could not recover 100 per cent. But we are working really hard to try to find solutions and of course we are in a very positive way.'
