In November 2022, all 20 Premier League clubs unanimously approved the introduction of the Premier League’s Fan Engagement Standard (FES), details of which have been announced today. The introduction of this framework provides a standard for fan engagement and promotes the sharing of good practice across the league.

Chelsea Football Club welcomes the introduction of the FES. Since their acquisition of Chelsea FC in May 2022, the board of directors has been committed to providing opportunities for supporters to make their voices heard at every level, in order to fulfil their promise of being pioneers in fan engagement.

Lord Daniel Finkelstein OBE, one of the Chelsea FC directors and a life-long Chelsea fan, will have strategic oversight of all fan engagement activity, supported by the newly appointed head of supporter relations, Cat Smith.

The recent announcement of the club’s Fan Advisory Board (the FAB) provides a mechanism for supporters to be engaged and consulted on the club’s strategic vision and objectives, as well as medium- and long-term decision making.

The FAB will meet at least three times a year with Lord Finkelstein, Cat Smith and senior club executives who will be in attendance at all meetings. The club currently has three supporter advisors to the board. They will continue to attend club board meetings and one the three supporter advisors will chair the FAB.

The club will continue to work with our Fans’ Forum and Accessible Fans’ Forum, with a focus on matchday and operational issues and in addition to the formal mechanisms of consultation and engagement, the club welcomes and encourages all supporter groups to talk with the club on a regular basis. This includes ongoing projects with prominent supporters’ organisations, examples of which are working with the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust as they campaign on key issues that impact supporters and their continued community work, and supporting Chelsea Pride in their campaigning to kick homophobia, biphobia and transphobia (HBT) out of football

The club will publish a Fan Engagement Plan at the start of the 2023/24 season, and subsequent seasons, which will share how supporters can make their voices heard.
