Christian Pulisic will sit out USA’s international fixture against Japan today with a slight injury.

The Chelsea forward, captain of the US national side, picked up a slight knock in training and so will not be risked in today’s friendly against Japan which is to be played in Dusseldorf, Germany, the national team confirmed.

Pulisic, the national team have confirmed, will be evaluated daily on his fitness and availability for USA’s next game on September 27, where they face Saudi Arabia in Murcia, Spain.

Pulisic is a key member of the national side, having made 50 appearances for USA and netting 21 times.

The Chelsea star is expected to lead the USA out at the World Cup in Qatar later this year, with England among those paired with the USMNT in the group stage.
