The form

Chelsea have a 100 per cent record this term. We won both of our pre-season friendlies - the 7-0 success against Auckland in New Zealand as followed up by a 3-0 victory over an A-League All-Stars side in Sydney - before opening the competitive action with that 5-2 first-leg win over Real Sociedad.

Since last week's first leg, our Spanish opponents opened their Primera Division campaign with a 2-0 home loss to Logrono on Saturday, meaning they have started their season with back-to-back defeats, after last term's third-place league finish.

Recent head-to-head

The first-leg meeting at Plough Lane was the first-ever match between the two sides. The Blues had to come from behind after Ainhoa Marin gave Sociedad an early lead, but Naomi Girma soon headed us level from a corner.

Veerle Buurman gave Chelsea the lead after the break, but this time the Spaniards hit back through Cecilia Marcos. We finally pulled clear during the final 25 minutes, though, as a brace by debutant Melvine Malard - either side of Lauren James' strike - gave us a healthy three-goal lead to take into the second game.
