After celebrating his 17th birthday, Academy midfielder Reggie Walsh has signed his first professional contract with Chelsea.
Walsh, who joined the club as an Under-8, featured for our Under-18s as a schoolboy during the 2024/25 season and was soon involved with the men’s first team. He made his debut in the UEFA Conference League fixture at Djurgarden, coming on as a substitute before starting the second leg of the semi-final. In doing so, he became the third-youngest player to represent Chelsea at senior level.
Since signing his scholarship in July, Walsh has established himself as a regular starter for Calum McFarlane’s Under-21s. He earned further European experience by starting in our Under-19s' UEFA Youth League victory over Bayern Munich.
Walsh’s involvement with the senior squad has continued this season, having featured in the matchday squad for the UEFA Champions League home tie against Benfica and made a late appearance in the Carabao Cup win away at Lincoln City. He later went on to make his UEFA Champions League debut at Stamford Bridge, coming on as a substitute in our 5-1 victory over Ajax.
Congratulations, Reggie!
