Guro Reiten says our ruthless 7-0 thrashing of Servette had been coming and sets the standard heading into Sunday’s Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester City.

Reiten was on the scoresheet in a devastating attacking display against the Swiss champions on Tuesday with the victory taking us two points clear at the top of Group A at the halfway stage.Attention now turns to the away meeting with City, who we beat last month to move into the FA Cup final.Attacking midfielder Reiten, who completed the scoring against Servette with a simple close-range finish after the break, said: ‘We wanted to put on a really good show for everyone and we did from the first second.‘We have been scoring goals early and then stopped after that but we kept going and the first half was unbelievably good. We love to attack and we love to score goals.‘I feel like we have waited for this performance this season and we finally got it. This is our standard and we need to be here every single game. We have to keep working on that. This gives us a lot of confidence.’The 27-year-old said City’s quality – and the fact we beat them 3-0 In the Cup at the Manchester City Academy Stadium – means they will be eager for revenge.‘I don’t think they were happy with their performance,’ Reiten added. ’We were, but we still know that we have parts of our game that we can improve. We want to keep raising our standards.‘We played a good game against City last time and we know it’s going to be tough; it is always tough up there. We will recover and go again.’

Reiten’s fellow Norwegian Maren Melde is back in contention to feature against City having made her eagerly awaited return from a knee injury as a substitute in the win in Geneva. The defender had not featured since the Continental Cup final win over Bristol City in March.‘It has been a long, tough few months for her,’ Reiten said. ‘Everyone remembers that final and I was crying all day. I don’t think I celebrated at all.’To see her back on the pitch is unbelievable. She is a fighter and I am very proud of her. She will come back and show her quality again.’
