The matchday programme for tomorrow’s game against Brentford pays tribute to Chelsea legend Eddie McCreadie, who passed away this week.

The left-back in our iconic Kings of the King’s Road team, and manager of our 1976/77 promotion-winning side, features on a commemorative cover, and there is a special feature inside celebrating his immense contribution to our club.

There is also an exclusive interview with Moises Caicedo, who looks ahead to an important west London derby against the Bees, reflects on his developing leadership role within the squad and ponders what makes a complete midfielder.

'All of us, we are important, and every player has their role,' he explains. 'When I’m there, they know that I’m going to win a lot of balls, I’m going to make tackles, I’m going to pass the ball to the strikers. They recognise that, so it’s nice.

'I like to help my team-mates when they are running forward to try to score a goal and it’s difficult for them to come back. I like to cover that space when they go, because that’s my role. So that’s why I’m there in the middle, to see where there is space to cover.'

Brentford are now in their fifth season as a Premier League side, but before their promotion we hadn’t played them in the league since the immediate post-war season. We take a look back at our encounters in 1946/47, with archive imagery and programme artwork, setting the scene for a very different era in British football history.

We also have all the info you need ahead of tomorrow’s encounter, and the latest from around the club, with columns from Liam Rosenior, Reece James, Sonia Bompastor and new Under-21s and Under-18s coaches, Harry Hudson and Dan Hogan.
