Cole Palmer may have grabbed the headlines with a hat-trick at Molineux but Robert Sanchez believes the best is yet to come from the Chelsea forward.

Palmer missed a large chunk of the first half of the season due to a groin injury and his game time has previously been managed as a precaution.

But at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, Palmer reminded everyone of what a special talent he is, bagging another first-half hat-trick to set us on our way to a 3-1 win.

Palmer is now the only player in Premier League history to score three hat-tricks in the first half of a match, while he has also scored more Premier League hat-tricks (four) than any Chelsea player, surpassing Blues legends Didier Drogba, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Frank Lampard, who all netted three.

And Sanchez said: ‘He’s brilliant. He's not even at 100 percent yet, he has just come back from injury, and still managed a hat-trick.

‘We're very happy. Everyone knows how good he is, so he needs to keep it up. He's only going to get better.’

Palmer twice converted from the penalty spot at Molineux before finishing with aplomb following some great work by Marc Cucurella to put us 3-0 up before the break.

We were unable to replicate the same level of dominance in the second half and Tolu Arokodare pulled a goal back for Wolves shortly after the interval but we never looked like losing the contest.

‘It was a great win, we’re very happy with the result,’ Sanchez said.

‘I think the first half was brilliant. In the second half, the goal they scored came from a situation we could have avoided. That gave them some energy to come at us, and we struggled a little bit. But at the end of the day, we won the game, so I'm very happy.’

While we have suffered a couple of defeats to Arsenal in the League Cup, new head coach Liam Rosenior has only tasted victory in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, with seven wins from nine games in all competitions.

Sanchez has been impressed by the approach being implemented on the training pitch, crediting the positive mood within the group and the clear ideas being delivered by his new head coach.

‘It's brilliant [working under Rosenior],' he said. 'His style is about dominating the ball and he came with a positive attitude and energy. The boys have really embraced it, and we're enjoying it a lot.’

And with plenty still to play for in the months ahead, the goalkeeper is clear on the mindset the Blues must maintain as the season continues across three competitions.

He said: ‘There are still a lot of games left. We want to take it game by game, focus on winning. We're still competing in three tournaments, so we want to do our best in all of them.’
