The Blues were ultimately defeated 2-1 by Unai Emery’s side in our final clash of 2025, but Sanchez produced several impressive stops and outperformed his expected goals against tally.

He also denied Boubacar Kamara with an excellent save when we were leading 1-0, and was unfortunate to concede two late goals via Ollie Watkins.

Despite the defeat, the Spaniard’s impressive display was noted by the Premier League who have nominated him for the Goalkeeper Performance of the Season award, where we will go up against Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Martin Dubravka of Burnley, Sunderland stopper Robin Roefs, Tottenham goalkeeper Guiglielmo Vicario and Jose Sa of Wolves.
