Romeo Lavia has been named the Premier League's Player of the Matchweek following his outstanding performance in Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge
The Belgian midfielder produced an excellent all-round display as the Blues returned to winning ways on Saturday, playing an influential role in the heart of midfield and helping Xabi Alonso's side secure all three points.
Lavia's composure in possession, ability to break up opposition attacks and intelligent distribution were key to Chelsea's impressive performance, while he also played an important part in our opening goal.
It was the 22-year-old who won possession in midfield before supplying the pass for Morgan Rogers to break the deadlock early in the second half, with Cole Palmer later doubling our advantage from the penalty spot.
Having already been voted Player of the Match by supporters on the Chelsea Official App, Lavia has now added another individual accolade following a vote by football fans on the Premier League's official website.
Our No.45 came out on top in a six-player shortlist that also featured Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Oli McBurnie, Declan Rice, Jan Paul van Hecke and Bart Verbruggen.
Speaking after Saturday's victory, Lavia reflected on the hard work behind his performances.
He said: 'I feel very comfortable. Like I've always said, it's been in the weeks a lot of work that goes unseen with everyone in the building, at the training ground. So I'm very happy that it's all paying off and hopefully it just continues this way.'
Head coach Alonso was also full of praise for the Belgian following his influential display against United.
'It was a top performance. In the last three weeks, I've seen a Romeo in top form. He is feeling good and feeling confident,' said Alonso.
'His game, from a midfielder's point of view, was very complete. He has done so many good things and I'm happy for him. He deserves huge recognition.'
And that recognition has now arrived, with Lavia's latest accolade providing another reason to celebrate an impressive individual performance and an important Chelsea victory.
Congratulations, Romeo!
