It is two months since Liam Rosenior took over at Chelsea and our head coach says he is ‘even more confident’ now about what this talented group of players are capable of.
The Blues have won ten of our 15 games under Rosenior, including a big Champions League victory away to Napoli in our most recent European away game.
Ahead of our next, against Paris Saint-Germain, Rosenior reflected on his start to life at Chelsea and detailed why he is so positive about what the future holds.
’Since coming in, it’s been mentioned how confident I am as a person, but I am even more confident now with my group,’ said Rosenior.
‘I’ve got to know the players in a better way, and they’ve got to know me and my demands and the way we play. I think it’s a nice fit.
‘I’m not just speaking about these games, I’m speaking about what we want to achieve in the long term. I am even more confident after two-and-a-half months than I was when I came in. That is down to the players and what they’ve given me in that time.’
The two youngest teams still in the Champions League go head-to-head at the Parc des Princes in this forthcoming Round of 16 tie, and Rosenior explained that while he thrives on developing any player, the youthfulness of his squad is especially exciting.
‘If they are a younger player, their ceiling is higher, their potential to grow is higher,’ he said.
‘That’s one of the reasons why I’m here. I love working with this group and I am very excited because of the age of the group.
‘Malo [Gusto, who joined Rosenior on press conference duty] told me his age in the car on the way here. He is 22 years old and could be going to a World Cup with France, one of the biggest nations.
‘I have 22 players like that to work with every day. It’s not only about their ability, quality and physicality, it’s their temperament. They are humble and want to improve and learn. I am very excited about where we can go on that journey.’
The next step comes in the French capital as another thrilling test awaits Rosenior and his players.
