Liam Rosenior says Chelsea will look to refresh and refocus over the forthcoming international break, with the Blues head coach highlighting the importance of the 'bigger picture' as we enter the season run-in.

It has been a challenging fortnight for the Blues, as we exited the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain and suffered defeats in the Premier League to Newcastle United and Everton.

The most recent of those came yesterday on Merseyside, as the Blues were beaten 3-0 on our first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, after which Rosenior admitted it was the most disappointing evening of his tenure.

The international break is a chance for Rosenior and his players to reflect and recharge, although several members of the Chelsea squad will be representing their countries in the final fixtures ahead of this summer's World Cup in the United States.

'I think the international break has come at a good time for us,' explained Rosenior after our disappointing loss at Everton.

'Hopefully, the players get a change. Most of them have to fly across the world and represent their countries, but maybe a reset, maybe some time away to regather their thoughts and have a different lineament and come back, may refresh the group.'

After full-time at the Hill Dickinson Stadium yesterday, Rosenior made sure to recognise the efforts of the travelling Chelsea support – as did the Blues players and staff.

The Blues head coach highlighted the efforts made by those who travelled to Merseyside, and reiterated there is still plenty to play for this season.

Our first game following the international break is an FA Cup quarter-final. Meanwhile, in the Premier League, we remain firmly in the hunt for a Champions League qualification place. Both are opportunities that Rosenior says must be focused on when our campaign resumes.

'The supporters pay their money, they love this club, and they’ve come a long way,' Rosenior said when discussing the travelling support. 'It’s a disappointing time at the moment in terms of the way we lost in the Champions League and the way we’ve lost the last two Premier League games.

'It hurts, regardless of your position, losing games of football. But in terms of moving forward and having this time [during the international break], it's to look at the bigger picture.

'We’re one point away from the Champions League positions, so we need to keep working in this way, keep giving the players as much confidence as possible, and hopefully this break has come at a really good moment.'
