Chelsea fans made their feelings clear at half-time, as we trailed West Ham United 2-0, but Liam Rosenior said the fans’ response to his team’s second-half performance was indicative of the pride he felt in his side’s display.

We dominated possession in the first half but lacked the intensity needed to overcome a hard-working West Ham side that led at the break thanks to goals from Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville.

The reaction from Chelsea’s fans was understandable. They were not happy. And neither was Rosenior nor his players. A triple change that saw the introduction of Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro at half-time paid off, and we were much improved after the break.

Goals from Joao Pedro and Cucurella saw us draw level and Enzo Fernandez grabbed a dramatic winner during injury time to secure a 3-2 victory and move us back into the top four of the Premier League.

Rosenior said: ‘I have to say the fans were magnificent in the second half. I could sense that after two minutes of the second half, they were with us.

‘They were right to boo [at the end of the first half]. I would have booed us in the first half. Our performance was nowhere near the level it needed to be collectively in terms of our energy and our decision-making. That's fair.‘

So to see them after the game, 45 minutes later, so happy and delighted with what they saw from the team, makes me very proud.‘I said to the players at half-time, we can make what probably is the worst feeling of the season the best feeling of the season. And I think they went out and performed magnificently in the second half.’

Chelsea are the current Club World Cup champions and, earlier this week, were one of eight teams to book our place automatically in the Champions League Round of 16.

Rosenior is well aware of what is expected at a club like Chelsea, having played against us many times during his playing career.

And he added: ‘This is a club with huge demands. The fans pay lots of money to watch us play. They demand that the minimum is that we win duels, that we've run for each other, and I felt in the first half that wasn't there.

‘But I have to say, I have to give credit to the team, to the subs who came on [and the likes of] Enzo Fernandez, who was magnificent for 95 minutes, and we showed in the end what the fans demand in terms of what we give to this club.’
