Ruben Loftus-Cheek is the subject in the latest episode of Like A Pro, the video series available exclusively on the 5th Stand app which provides an insight into Chelsea players and opens the door on a side to them that may not have been revealed before.

The England midfielder tackles the topic of motivation, revealing the former team-mate who excelled at rallying the dressing room before games and explaining how he stays driven both when things are going well and during difficult moments.

The 24-year-old has, of course, not played a competitive game of football for nine months following the Achilles injury suffered last May in Boston.

‘Tough times are definitely hard to stay motivated,’ he says. ‘You have to remind yourself what your end goal is and keep reminding yourself so you have that motivation to keep going through these tough times because it is hard.’

‘When I’m pulling into the car park it’s like a trigger that I’m here to work. I need to do everything I can to get better, and when I leave the training ground, I want to feel satisfied that I’ve done everything that I can.’

Loftus-Cheek recently featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Cobham as he continues his long road to recovery.
