Johanna Rytting Kaneryd says she and her Chelsea team-mates will use the prospect of a return to Wembley Stadium as motivation when facing Liverpool in today's FA Cup semi-final.

The Reds, currently overseen by interim head coach Amber Whiteley, pulled off a shock in the last round by eliminating Arsenal. That set up a last-four encounter with Sonia Bompastor's side, with a place in the FA Cup's showpiece match at stake.

Rytting Kaneryd knows the challenge ahead and stressed the need to play to our strengths, knowing few teams can live with the Blues when at our best.

She said: 'Liverpool are a team that we know have a lot of strengths. They've been playing well lately, especially against Arsenal in the Cup, and it's a team that is going to fight to be in the final. For us, it's important to focus on ourselves, and hopefully we can get a good start and keep on working.

'It's always a challenge coming back after the international break. We don't have a lot of time to train and to do tactics and stuff, but I think this group of people with the staff that we have, we all know what we are able to do. If we can just get that done, we are a team that are hard to beat.'

This afternoon's contest will not be the first time Rytting Kaneryd has played in an FA Cup semi-final. She understands how special it is to compete for a trophy at Wembley.

Knowing already what to expect, she's relishing the challenge that Saturday's game will bring.

'It's something special,' she continued. 'I've been here three years this summer, and in my first year we were in the FA Cup final. It was such an incredible atmosphere.

'Last year, we didn't manage to get all the way to the final, and I think this year we really feel like, 'OK, we all want to be there.' It's been super clear from the first meeting we had with Sonia and the staff that we want to win trophies.

'And the FA Cup is special. So, yeah, we really need to go out and play our best and win this game.'

The Sweden international added: 'It's so special to play at Wembley. I still remember that game against Manchester United two years ago when Sam [Kerr] scored and did her celebration. It's just an amazing atmosphere.

'As a player, those are the games you want to play in. It's not every day you're able to play in a stadium like that. So, I really want to be there and to experience that again.'

Chelsea face a big end to the season as we look to add three more trophies to the League Cup that was secured back in March.

The Blues players left for international duty at the beginning of the month off the back of a 2-2 draw with West Ham United, and the disappointing last-gasp equaliser in that game has only served as fuel for them to come back even better than before.

For Rytting Kaneryd, it's the best part of the campaign, and she understands exactly what's expected from the team.

'I'm super excited, first of all. It's a lot of fun and there are exciting games to play. We all know what these games mean for us. So you can really feel the tension and the excitement in the body for the block that is coming up now.

'When we played against City at Stamford Bridge, we really played attacking football. I felt like all of us were on the same page.

'We know we are really hard to beat when we go forward and use our speed and really attack with a lot of bodies. I think that's the key for us, and not to make things too complicated. Just go forward and put high pressure, win the ball, and then punish them from there.

'I think if we get a good start, that's going to set the tone for the game. So I think that would be a key part for us to get a good start and just go out aggressively, show out mentality from the start.

'We know what we're able to do. So if we can just reach that, we're going to win.'
