Sam Kerr reflected upon her incredible Chelsea career with happiness after she became our all-time joint top scorer with a superb strike against Manchester United on Saturday.

Kerr's Chelsea career ended in the only way it could on Saturday, with a match-winning strike against Manchester United.

The striker has enjoyed some of the best moments of her Chelsea career against United, and added another with a deadly finish from a Lauren James cross in front of the Blues supporters at Stamford Bridge to secure us a 1-0 win.

After saying goodbye to the fans inside the ground, Kerr explained why she kept her cool on what was an emotional occasion, as retiring captain Millie Bright also bid farewell to the club.

'I mean, it's kind of fitting to not only play against United, but for me to score a goal like that, but I’m just happy it ended on a high,' Kerr said.

'Of course, it's sad. It's been my home. I love playing here. It's one of the best leagues in the world. I play with the best players every day. So there are a lot of hard things, but all good things must come to an end, and I feel like it's the right time.

'I feel like I've always known when I need to try something new, and I feel like this is a moment to do that.

'Everyone who knows me knows I'm not much of a crier. I always like to see the positives in things. I honestly just feel really happy. I feel really honoured and lucky to have been a part of this and to have had six and a half years here. So yeah, I don't know... just happiness.'

With a catalogue of memorable moments and 116 goals in 158 appearances for the Blues, it was difficult for Kerr to pin down exactly which she would pick out as her favourite.

Yet she offered a couple of suggestions based on her storied career, one she can look back on with genuine pride.

'My best moments are the trophies,' she said. 'Probably the FA Cup, the back-to-back leagues; I can't go past them. It's sad we didn't end with a trophy today, I guess, but I'm really proud of everything we have won.'
