With her strike against Leicester City, Sam Kerr has broken Fran Kirby's record for the most Women's Super League goals scored by a Chelsea player.
The Australian drew level with Kirby on 63 goals when she netted a brace away at Everton on 26 April. After equalling the record, she paid tribute to her former team-mate, as she said: 'I've had some very fun memories with Fran, so it feels fitting that I'm level with her. Hopefully, I can beat it, but I’m very privileged to be on the same level as her.'
Now, with a headed goal against Leicester City, Kerr has surpassed that marker and now sits at the top of the rankings with 64 league goals for the Blues.
Kerr is also close to becoming our top goalscorer in all competitions, sitting two goals behind Kirby with a total of 114.
Kerr joined Chelsea in January 2020 and scored her first league goal in a 4-1 win over Arsenal at Meadow Park.
She surpassed the 100-goal mark in all competitions for the Blues on her return from an almost two-year injury absence when she came on as a substitute away at Aston Villa in September 2025.
Congratulations, Sam!
