Robert Sanchez’s incredible injury-time fingertip stop to deny Jota Silva of Nottingham Forest in October has been nominated for the Premier League’s Save of the Season.
The Blues and the Reds played out a pulsating 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, with Sanchez’s stop ensuring we claimed a vital point in our, ultimately successful, bid to secure a top-five finish.
Both Sanchez and his opposite number of that day, Forest’s Matz Sels produced several fine saves, but the best of the bunch came from the Spaniard, who miraculously kept out Jota Silva’s goal-bound header when it looked destined to nestle in the far corner. Rob stretched out a hand to palm the ball behind for a corner to preserve a point.
Voting is now open for you to choose Sanchez as the winner, with the Spaniard among a shortlist of seven goalkeepers.
Up against Rob is Arsenal’s David Raya, Andre Onana of Manchester United, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, Bournemouth’s Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Dubravka of Newcastle and Tottenham stopper Guglielmo Vicario.
