Green Football Weekend is upon us and supporters at our games at Kingsmeadow and Stamford Bridge may notice Chelsea’s drive to raise awareness of the campaign, and there are ways for fans everywhere to boost the club’s challenge for the Green Football Cup.

Starting today, Green Football Weekend highlights that individuals can make a significant contribution to combating climate change when they take action together.

So how can you help Chelsea win, and win prizes yourself?

Backed by the Football Supporters’ Association, as well as Sky Sports, TNT Sports and others, Green Football Weekend has a leaderboard of clubs, including Chelsea, and fans can sign up and score green goals by undertaking sustainability-based actions, moving the Blues up the rankings.

Believing that the footballing community has the power to drive change like no other, Green Football Weekend is encouraging change to start with our stomachs. If the UK’s football fans had one veggie meal a day, it could have the equivalent impact of removing 5.5 million cars from the road each year.

Up until Wednesday, food choice is one of the ways you can score goals for Chelsea in the Green Football Cup, with taking a quiz and other routine daily options among the ways to find the back of the net.

You can sign up to take part by clicking Green Football Cup or by scanning the QR code at the bottom of this page and as a bonus, all fans who register to score green goals for Chelsea will be entered into a random prize draw to win one of these three prizes:

  • Two hospitality tickets for the Women’s Super League home match versus Aston Villa, including meeting one of the players.

  • Two general admission tickets for the Premier League home game against Burnley.

  • A replica Sam Kerr shirt made out of Lego.

Terms and conditions apply to this competition and the prizes do not include any associated travel, accommodation or postage costs.

Green Football Weekend at our stadiums

One of the prizes on offer in our Green Football Weekend competition will be on display at Kingsmeadow. The Lego replica Sam Kerr shirt will be in the West Stand at the stadium. Pop in and have a look.

You may already have seen on our social media channels that the Chelsea Foundation has been busy with workshops showcasing to school students the benefits of trying a veggie meal, and explaining a win-win diet that is healthy for people and the planet. Players from our men’s and women’s teams took part.

Plant-based food will be prominent in the offerings at Kingsmeadow on Sunday, and at both our Premier League and Women’s Super League matches this weekend there is a focus on packaging at our food and drink outlets, with plastic water bottles replaced by cartons, seaweed-based disposable packaging introduced, and as part of a Protect the Planet initiative to educate children about sustainability, plastic at Kingsmeadow will be collected by the Foundation and weighed to help measure the reduction.

In addition, the food carbon impact at the games will be recorded via Footsteps, a UK-based tech company used by our catering partner Levy to accelerate decarbonisation.

While waiting for Sunday’s games, why not sign for Chelsea and play in the Green Football Cup now…
