Chelsea Under-21s captain Shumaira Mheuka has been named Premier League 2 Player of the Season after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, in which he played a pivotal role in the Blues’ title win.
Mheuka enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal, scoring 18 times and providing one assist in 19 Premier League 2 appearances. His contributions were crucial as our Under-21s finished top of the table, recording 14 victories from 20 matches and scoring 52 goals on their way to lifting the Premier League 2 league trophy.
The 18-year-old also registered two hat-tricks during the league campaign. The first came in our opening fixture of the season, a 3-1 win over Manchester City in August, before he completed his second in a 4-1 London derby victory against Crystal Palace in January.
As captain, Mheuka led by example and was a consistent driving force throughout a memorable season for our Under-21s.
Reflecting on the Player of the Season award, Mheuka said: 'It has been a great season for me and I’m very proud to receive this award.
'I’ve worked hard throughout the year and I’m grateful to my family, the staff and my team-mates for all of their support.'
Congratulations, Shim!
