Chelsea Foundation turned more dreams into reality by welcoming a group of special guests to Cobham training ground for the latest community day.

On a gloriously sunny day at Cobham, our guests days were brightened with a morning of activities which included a Q&A session with club legend Carlo Cudicini, before they headed out into the sunshine to watch the men’s first team training session.

Our guests were given exclusive behind-the-scenes access, watching on as head coach Graham Potter, the coaching staff and the players got down to business on the grass, giving them the VIP treatment and the chance to see their favourite players in action.

After the session, the players spent time getting to know our guests and their families, signing autographs and taking pictures, creating ever-lasting memories of a truly unique experience for everyone involved.

Dexter, 10, said his highlight from the day was watching the players train and meeting his favourite player, Christian Pulisic, was the icing on the cake. ‘I’ve got loads of favourite things about him,' he said. 'I like the boots he wears and the way he plays.’

Accompanying Dexter on the day was mum Michelle, who spoke of the delight she felt at seeing Dexter’s dreams being fulfilled and being able to share the experience with him: ‘It’s an amazing experience and for us to spend this time together, and for him to do something that he is so passionate about, it does feel like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him to be this close to his favourite team. It’s a really amazing experience, so we’re very grateful for it.’

Dominic, 20, was accompanied by Alex, 20, and the pair were blown away by the experience. ‘My favourite part of the day was getting to meet all the players,’ Dominic said. ‘It’s been amazing. I enjoyed meeting Sterling, Aubameyang and Mason Mount, in particular.’

Alex echoed this sentiment, beyond happy to be given the chance to visit Cobham and take home some souvenirs to remember the occasion: ‘It’s was amazing, just coming to the training ground and seeing them train, meeting all the players as well. We’ve got shirts signed and photos, pride and joy.’

Henry was joined by mum Claire and talked about his highlight from the morning.

‘Watching all the players playing football,’ he said, and on being asked about his favourite player and why, he added: ‘Raheem Sterling, when he scores goals.’

Claire expressed her gratitude for the hospitality they experienced and the gifts which Henry received. ‘It’s been amazing, I’m quite speechless. He’s come away with such lovely gifts, we’ve been treated lovely and it’s been amazing to see. A beautiful, sunny day and we’re really lucky.’

Remie, 9, enjoyed watching the players getting put through their paces and said: ‘Watching them train, watching them do technical drills. At Stamford Bridge, they don’t usually do what they do here, they do more technical here so it’s quite good.’

He too managed to secure some extra special gifts to remember the day, seizing the opportunity with both hands: ‘I decided to do it all while I have the chance, you probably don’t get another chance again.’

Dad Daryl took the chance to get his own football boots signed and highlighted what it means for the children to be treated so wonderfully by the players. ‘I’ve had an amazing day, got my 15-year-old boots signed he said. 'I know the players are well paid and I know they’re superstars, but they take the time for the children. They took a lot of time to understand and to talk to them, it makes the world of difference.’

Mum Holly will look back fondly on the experience the family have shared, adding: ‘I think it’s all brilliant, it’s all really nice. It’s quite chilled as well, it was lovely. We’ve got lots of pictures, we loved it.’

These community days see the Chelsea Foundation linking up with a range of charities to arrange visits for supporters and their carers, giving them a well-deserved boost in what is a difficult time for them and their families.
