Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor insists every player in her squad will play their part as the Blues head into the business end of the season.

Bompastor's side are in FA Cup action this weekend - one of four competitions they will feature in during March - with next weekend's League Cup final, the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, and the Women's Super League all lying in wait.

We host fellow WSL side Crystal Palace at Kingsmeadow in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon and ahead of a busy month, Bompastor discussed how vital it is to utilise her entire squad.

'When you come into this block [of fixtures], it's really important for your squad to be prepared,' our head coach said. 'Every player needs to realise they will all be involved because it's impossible to play every three days for one month.

'This is where it's really important for a club like us to have depth in the squad. Every player needs to realise that in some games they will be starters, they might be finishers, or they might not be in the squad.

'But, they all need to be ready for that mentally. We are in a good place in terms of players knowing what their job is individually, but also for the team, and the team is the most important thing at the end of the day.

'Everyone will have the opportunity to play their game and have their impact in our performances.'

Bompastor is preparing to face a Palace side who have played only one match under new manager Leif Smerud, with the Norwegian replacing Laura Kaminski last week.

Smerud's first match at the helm saw the Eagles succumb to a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool and leaves them rooted to the bottom of the WSL table with six points after 15 games played.

But, rather than putting a spotlight on our opponents' form, our head coach's priority is to focus on her side and what they are capable of doing to reach the last four of the FA Cup.

Bompastor's side are unbeaten across all four competitions this season - a run that stands at 26 games - and have already reached one domestic cup final this term.

'They just changed manager and he has only had one game with his team,' Bompastor said. 'I was analysing that game, but we don't know a lot about the way he wants the team to play and more information because he's only been there for a week.

'It's good to have some focus on Palace, but we focus most on ourselves. We just need to prepare for the game by focusing on ourselves.'

She continued: 'We always go into every game focusing on ourselves more than we do the opposition. But, for sure, sometimes we have some specific things you need to analyse to be ready going into the game. That will be the case on Sunday.'

Last weekend, Mia Fishel was named in her first match-day squad since recovering from a long-term anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Ahead of Crystal Palace, Bompastor was asked whether Sam Kerr, who sustained the same injury, is any closer to making her return.

Our head coach also confirmed the Blues will be without the services of Naomi Girma and Keira Walsh, who both missed our last encounter.

'Sam is still working hard to come back,' Bompastor explained. 'She was again with us in training sessions this week, still being protected. We don't have a timeframe for her to come back in the squad.

'Naomi and Keira won't be available for the game on Sunday, but we have a chance to have them next Saturday for the cup final.'
