Sonia Bompastor is looking forward to taking her Chelsea side to Arsenal and has plans in place to communicate with her players in what she expects to be a lively atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium.

Victory for Chelsea in north London would move Bompastor's side eight points ahead of Arsenal – it would be a significant blow to the Gunners' WSL title hopes.

That fact, coupled with the contest being a London derby, will likely lead to a fervent crowd inside the stadium, which can always prove a challenge for head coaches.

Yet Bompastor is confident that a system is in place, through her leaders out on the pitch, to ensure any tactical instructions are understood and implemented by the Blues.

'It’s important as a coach to have some players who can relay [instructions] on the pitch,' explained the Blues boss during her pre-match press conference. 'I have already said some of the points [before the game], and my leaders know exactly when I have to say something or we have to do something.

'Clarity on the roles is important and we have some signals that are really important because the noise in the stadium will be loud. When the players can’t hear you, they need to understand what you are trying to pass on as a message to them.

'So, we have some really good signals between us, and everyone on the pitch knows what they are.’

The rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal will be reignited after a ten-month gap between our last game and tomorrow's encounter.

Last season, Chelsea defeated the Gunners 2-1 away from home in October, before completing the double against the North London club at Stamford Bridge in January.

‘I loved the last game when we played at the Emirates,' Bompastor smiled. 'The atmosphere was great, and having the chance to play in this stadium with a lot of fans against a big opponent, that’s why we come every day to work.

'I’m talking about work, but the game tomorrow will be about having fun. The fact we have the opportunity to go into the game and have fun on the pitch is the most important thing. We are looking forward to that and are happy to play the game.’

The Blues currently top the WSL table, having won six and drawn one of our opening seven matches of the season.

Manchester City are one point behind in second while the Gunners currently sit in fifth, five points behind Chelsea. Yet despite the gap that has opened up between us and our city rivals, Bompastor views Arsenal as a title contender and believes the result at the Emirates Stadium will be crucial.

‘Every game in this league is important, every game means three points, but when you play a title rival it’s even more important,' she continued. 'So, for that reason, we know we have to go into the game with confidence and show our best side.

'We want to perform, and the three points are crucial. I have a lot of experience in my squad and team, the players know the importance of the game and will go into the game with the right level of pressure.

'It’s always good to have pressure going into the game, it gives you good motivation to face a big team. So we will be ready for that.’

This weekend, we battle it out at Emirates Stadium. On January 24, the biggest rivalry in English women's football will be coming to the Bridge. Don't miss Chelsea versus Arsenal at the home of the Blues!
