Sonia Bompastor praised Millie Bright after the Chelsea captain made her 300th appearance for the Blues in our 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The 32-year-old joined Chelsea from Doncaster Rovers Belles back in 2014 and was named club captain in September 2023.

Bright made 36 appearances in all competitions, playing over 3,000 minutes, as we won a domestic Treble in Bompastor’s first campaign in charge last season.

‘Millie has been at Chelsea for so many years, and I think she is the foundation of the club,’ said Bompastor. ‘She is great on the pitch, and she leads by example.

'Those 300 appearances show the consistency she’s had to play at the highest level and, for me, only the top-class players can play so many games for one club.

‘She’s a great person and I’m really pleased to have a captain like Millie. I enjoy working with her day-to-day and she always puts the importance of the team before herself.’
