'Mayra is not available for the game tomorrow, but she didn't play for a full season last season, so she needs time to build up. We are taking the time she needs to be in the best place possible. We'll see how she's performing and building up, but she's not ready for tomorrow.'

'I think if you watch all the teams in the men's and women's game, the strongest sides need to have a lot of quality and talent in the squad. Mayra is one of the most talented No9s in the world, but with many games to play, it's always better for the manager to have many options and to have everyone available.

'We'll try to do our best for her to be available soon. In the interim, we'll have other options.'

Meanwhile, Japan international Matsukubo signed for Chelsea in the summer but is yet to make her Blues debut. Bompastor explained why she was so keen to bring her into the club, and gave the latest on when fans might see her in action.

'She's a great player,' continued our head coach. 'She's so smart, really comfortable on the ball. We were really looking for a player who can bring a lot of creativity in our midfield. I think that's what she can bring to us.

'For now, she's not available, but I'm hoping for her to be available soon because I think she will be a really important player for us. In this league, she will be one of the best.'
