Sonia Bompastor insists there is no risk of the Blues underestimating any opponent in the Women's Super League as we seek our tenth consecutive league victory this season at Leicester City, who are led by a familiar face to our head coach.

We travel to the East Midlands with a five-point advantage atop the WSL table, with each of our nine league fixtures thus far ending in victory. In all competitions this season, our winning run stands at 14 games.

Conversely, Leicester sit 11th in the table with only five points and a sole victory recorded this term. However, Bompastor knows that will not lead to an easy afternoon for her side as she highlighted the Foxes' performances rather than their points.

And while this is the first occasion Bompastor has faced Leicester, she understands the threat they will possess due to being familiar with their manager, Amandine Miquel. Both coaches arrived in England this summer from France where they clashed on many occasions; Bompastor was at the helm of Lyon and Miquel was in charge of Reims.

It's why Bompastor believes Leicester's place in the league is not a true reflection of their displays this term. She is expecting a challenging encounter at the King Power Stadium.

'This is why it's important the staff and me analyse performances more than the results sometimes,' Bompastor said in her pre-match press conference. 'The last result was good (a 5-2 win against Birmingham City in the League Cup) and I think the performances in their last games were already giving them confidence.

'We expect a tough game. They will be fighting to give us trouble. I know Amandine by heart and I know she will give everything. That's also their mentality to fight from the beginning until the very end. Amandine always tries to surprise me with something in the game, so I'm ready for that.'

Bompastor continued: 'We have both been involved in the French league and are now both new coaches in the WSL.

'For sure, she's struggling a little bit with her squad and struggling a little bit with scoring goals. But, I know when you are a coach and it's difficult to score goals, you secure the defensive part of the game.

'The result in their last game was good, so will bring them a little bit more confidence. They are defensively well-organised and as a team, they defend really well. We expect that tomorrow.'

With the Blues on such an impressive run of form, some have questioned if complacency may set in. Yet Bompastor stressed this will not be the case as her Chelsea side have a determined and focused mentality engrained in them.

'That’s not difficult because the players are really competitive and want to perform in every game,' Bompastor said. 'On that we are on the same page. Every game matters and every game has three points to win, so if we want to continue our good momentum and our good run, it’s the mentality we need to have.

'We must be ready from the beginning of the game and be mentally and physically ready to play with high intensity. It’s part of our DNA to win every game and make sure we perform in every game from beginning to end. No matter who we play, we just want to focus on ourselves and make sure we perform and win the games.’

After a stop-start season due to injury, forward Catarina Macario has found herself back in contention in our previous two matches. The American played 45 minutes in last weekend's league victory over Brighton & Hove Albion and featured for an hour and scored in our midweek UEFA Champions League win against FC Twente.

‘We are working really hard with her to make sure she comes back healthy on the pitch and is able to play more and more games and build fitness and chemistry in the team,' Bompastor said. 'Cat is a world-class player, so it’s really important to have her on the pitch.

'Now she is in a good place, she was able to play 45 minutes against Brighton and played 60 against Twente. So now we will see how we manage her to play the Leicester game and against Real Madrid if possible.’
