Sonia Bompastor says it is beneficial Chelsea have a game so soon after Sunday’s draw with Brighton, and the head coach is expecting to see a positive reaction from her side when we take on Leicester City at Kingsmeadow.

For just the second time in all competitions this season we did not finish the game victorious after a hard-fought contest with the Seagulls ended 2-2.

The only other team to have stopped us winning this season are Leicester, tomorrow’s opponents managed by Bompastor’s compatriot Amandine Miquel. Our head coach is excited at the prospect of her team showing a response and trying to pick up three more WSL points.

‘It’s always the best thing when you're able to play so quickly after a frustrating result,’ Bompastor said.

‘We'll be different playing at home. When you drop two points, the game afterwards, you have to have the right mindset and we will be desperate to get a good result. We'll be ready for the game.

‘I know Amandine and I know she will prepare for the game in a very good way,' added Bompastor. 'She will try to put us under trouble, but we have the quality to win the game.

‘It's always about finding the right balance between focusing on the other team, but also focusing on yourself and what you need to achieve to make sure you get a good result.’

One player Bompastor will hope to see make another decisive contribution is Lauren James. The attacker played a big part in our first goal at Brighton, scored by Sandy Baltimore, and then equalised on the hour after the hosts had turned the game around. It followed a dramatic injury-time winner against Everton in our last game before the international break.

‘LJ is a world-class player,’ Bompastor enthused. ‘She has a lot of talent and a lot of quality. In every game, she can make an impact. It's good to have her back fit, but also being able to make an impact on the team.

‘I'm really pleased with that. I hope she will be fit until the end of the season and keep having an impact on the team.’

Bompastor also explained why the decision was made to bring Becky Spencer back to the club on a loan deal from Tottenham until the end of the season.

‘As you could see, with the goalkeepers we have a really strange or not normal situation. First of all, we have Z [Zecira Musovic] who is pregnant. Before the transfer window closed, we decided to bring Femke [Liefting] in.

‘She has a bone injury in her foot and will probably be out for several weeks and this is why we decided to bring Becky with us. We were a keeper down and it's really important to keep quality, but also have three goalkeepers in the squad.’
