After a 5-0 home victory over West Ham United, Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor explained that her side's ruthless winning mindset is something that takes constant work.
After winning a domestic Treble in her first season in charge, Bompastor's side are still competing for all four competitions this season, and she explained that being at Chelsea means expectations are always high.
'We are constantly working to make sure players understand the club they are at,' said the Blues head coach. 'Most of them have a lot of experience, and they know that when you play for Chelsea, you want to compete in all four competitions and you want to win titles.
'It's a case of reinforcing this messaging around that, but I don't have to say a lot; our daily behaviour is all about this.
'We arrive in the building every day to make sure we win titles, and we want to ensure Chelsea goes as far as possible in every competition. The club has been doing that for many years now, and we want to be sure we stay in that position.'
Chelsea went ahead after less than one minute against West Ham through a Yu Endo own goal before goals from Lauren James, Alyssa Thompson, and a brace from Sandy Baltimore saw the Blues put together a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
While Manchester City's win over Everton meant we remain six points behind first place in the WSL table, Bompastor stressed the importance of keeping pace at the top with 10 matches now remaining before the end of the season.
'It was really important to come into the second part of the season with the right mindset,' she continued. 'We are in a different place from last season, when we were on top. We are now chasing Man City.
'The club has been in this situation before, and for me as a manager, I'm comfortable with being in that position, even if I wish we could be at the top. We know now we have 10 games left. The only thing we can control is to give our best in each of the next 10 games. We'll fight until the end, and we'll see what happens.
'I think if you reflect on the first part of the season, the only games we couldn't win were because we couldn't score goals, but we created a lot of opportunities in those games. It’s really important to be efficient at the highest level. We can speak a lot about the performances, but the most important thing when you are at Chelsea is to win the games.'
