Sonia Bompastor felt that there was a fine margin between last Sunday's defeat and a 6-0 demolition of Roma, and called for her side to keep the momentum going during the last three matches of 2025.

The Blues bounced back perfectly from a disappointing defeat against Everton last weekend with a dominant performance and a 6-0 win over Roma in the Women's Champions League.

Bompastor has spoken recently about the need to be clinical, and tonight the players responded to a recent lack of goals in the best possible way.

'I think we had a really good reaction tonight. A good performance and a good result. That's what I wanted to see from my team and the expectations we had for ourselves.
It was a really good team performance.

From the beginning of the game, the players who started the game and the ones who came in had an impact, so different scorers, and I think a lot of positive things from the game tonight.

Being able to open the scoring and double the score, you just kill the game and the opposition's hope, and it changed pretty much everything tonight. When we are able to be efficient, it's a big help.

A dangerous ball in from Sandy Baltimore forced a Roma own goal after just 13 minutes, and the Blues head coach explained that sometimes a moment of good fortune like this is enough to spark a side which has struggled to score into life.

That was certainly the case for Chelsea, as we fired in the second goal with 26 minutes gone.

'Sometimes it helps just to turn things around to score early on the game. It gives enough confidence to the players to score even more goals and to create even more situations.

'So it's the small details and fine margins, but the fact that we scored the first goal as an own goal, probably the confidence for the other team goes down, and our confidence goes up. When you are able to go in 3-0 up at half-time, I think it's a big break and big enough for you to be confident.'

The Blues return to league action on Sunday with a trip to Brighton in the Women's Super League, and Bompastor explained how she wanted her side to keep the foot on the accelerator after tonight's breakthrough.

'I'm really pleased with tonight, and I think keeping the momentum now will be crucial. We know where we are in the league table, we know we have an important game on Sunday, and there are three more games left in different competitions, and we want to win them all.'
