Sonia Bompastor expects Catarina Macario and Becky Spencer to be fit for our League Cup quarter-final against Liverpool on Sunday, but Keira Walsh's fitness needs to be assessed ahead of the game.
Fresh off securing our spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday evening, the Blues' attention now turns to domestic cup duty.
We travel to the BrewDog Stadium in St Helens to face Gareth Taylor's side, who held us to a draw when we faced them in Women's Super League action in November.
Bompastor expects to welcome back both Spencer and Macario, who were absent from our midweek win over Wolfsburg. However, a decision will need to be made regarding Walsh, who sustained an issue with her calf in Germany.
'The medical team are assessing the players after the game on Wednesday night in the Champions League,' explained Bompastor.
'It is too soon for me to give a clear update, but from the game, we don't have a lot of things. 'Keira Walsh felt her calf a little bit during the game, but we'll probably have more information tomorrow (Saturday).
'Catarina Macario and Becky Spencer were not involved in the game as they were both ill. They are both feeling a lot better now and should be available for the match against Liverpool.'
Defender Nathalie Bjorn has been absent from the side throughout December due to a hamstring issue sustained in training.
She will not feature against Liverpool and Bompastor says no timeframe has yet been placed on a potential return for the Swedish defender.
'As we said in the statement, Nat picked up an injury in her hamstring in a training session,' said the Blues head coach. 'She will be out of the squad for several weeks, but it's difficult for me to put an exact timeframe on Nat.'
