Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor has been named the Barclays Women’s Super League Manager of the Season at the 2024/25 League Managers' Association awards.

The Blues boss has been recognised for an outstanding debut season in English football. Bompastor steered Chelsea to an historic unbeaten league campaign as we secured the title for the sixth year in a row, winning 19 and drawing three of our 22 WSL games.

We also triumphed in the domestic cups, beating Manchester City in the Subway Cup final and Manchester United at Wembley in the FA Cup final.

Having joined Chelsea from Lyon, it wasn’t until just before the winter break in December that Chelsea dropped points, drawing at Leicester, as we led the league from start to finish. The Blues defeated Arsenal and both Manchester clubs home and away, and also secured a famous European comeback against City at Stamford Bridge.

It was not the only prize Bompastor picked up at the 33rd LMA annual awards. She was also the worthy recipient of the LMA’s John Duncan award, handed out by the LMA board for a significant accomplishment in the field of football. In Bompastor’s case, that was steering the Blues to an unbeaten league campaign.

Congratulations, Sonia!
