The Chelsea boss has four children and while family life mixed with coaching at the highest level is hectic, Sonia Bompastor wants other mothers to know that it is possible to have both.
The Blues boss took charge of the Lyon Women's academy following the end of her playing career in 2013 and stepped up to the senior side in 2021.
Following that promotion, she won the league three times and masterminded a Women's Champions League win in 2022.
Now at Chelsea, Bompastor has completed a domestic Treble in her first season in England, but she wasn't always convinced that she could manage the demands of being a parent and a coach.
'When I first started, I thought it might be difficult as a high-level manager and a mum of several kids,' the boss explained. 'But I had people around me who allowed me to find the right work-life balance.
'I'm starting to believe that it’s possible. It is manageable to be successful with your team and invest a lot of time and energy in the work, while also finding the right balance with your family and allowing my kids to experience these moments here at Wembley.'
Bompastor's four children joined in with the celebrations on the pitch at Stamford Bridge after we lifted the Women's Super League trophy, and were also present for the FA Cup win at Wembley.
That included meeting our new investor Alexis Ohanian and his tennis superstar wife Serena Williams at Wembley.
'One of them asked me: ‘Is Serena Williams a really famous person in the world?’,' Bompastor smiled. 'I said that I would explain later and they would see for themselves on the screen.
'It’s a dream they can have experiences like this.'
Bompastor is laser-focused on achieving success with Chelsea. Yet she is also keen to spread a message of empowerment to other women who may be torn over finding a balance between their work and family life.
That message will be delivered through inspiring actions as she continues to lead on and off the pitch.
'I'm almost 45 years old and I want to set an example for other women,' says Bompastor.
'It’s not about me talking about it but instead leading by example. I want to say live your dreams and believe you have the talent and ability to be in that position. Just go for it!'
