Latest Chelsea team news

Emerson and Ruben Loftus-Cheek remain out while there is no confirmed timeframe yet on Toni Rudiger's return. Frank Lampard had an update on N'Golo Kante's fitness during his press conference on Friday.

‘It’s something we’ll have to watch over the next 24, 48 hours to make sure he’s okay,' said Lampard. 'All the players are on a semi-recovery programme after the Lille game but it’s also the fact he hasn’t played much.

‘In terms of the injury, he’s fine and there was no fallout with that from the Lille game so it’s just about making sure he’s fit and ready, which is a call for me to make.’

Latest Southampton team news

Cedric pulled out of the Saints' loss to Tottenham after getting an injury in the warm-up and is out. Moussa Djenepo, the scorer of two fantastic goals earlier this season, has missed Southampton's last three games with a tendon injury and will miss this weekend's game. Che Adams is back in contention having not been involved at Spurs.

Southampton vs Chelsea head-to-head

Chelsea have won more Premier League games (eight) and scored more goals (22) than any other side against Southampton in the Premier League at St Mary’s.

In the Premier League we have won eight, drawn two and lost just one of our 11 meetings at St Mary’s. Chelsea also won 5-1 there in the third round of the FA Cup in 2013.

Our one defeat in that time was in March 2013 when Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert secured the points for the Saints. John Terry had equalised for the Blues.

Chelsea have scored at least one goal in each of our past 15 away games against Southampton in all competitions, last failing to find the net in December 2017.
