The Blues are into the last-four stage of the competition in the United States and FIFA has issued information for fans attending the game. It includes info useful for travelling to and entering the stadium.

Chelsea’s semi-final game at the new-look tournament is:

  • Fluminense vs Chelsea – Tuesday 8 July 3pm (local time) – MetLife Stadium (New Jersey)

Arrive early

Everyone is encouraged to arrive early to avoid delays at the stadium gates and ensure you do not miss kick-off. Please arrive as early as possible if you are planning on bringing special items pre-approved by FIFA.

You are strongly encouraged to transit options such as NJ Transit rail service, Coach USA bus service, or carpooling options, and to avoid driving to the stadium.

Stadium gates open at 12pm ET.

Bag policy

Fans may not be aware of the clear bag policy.

To be allowed into the stadium, bags must be made of clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, and be no larger than 12”x6”x12” (30cm x 15cm x 30cm).

Non-clear clutches or wallets about the size of a hand are permitted, as long as they’re no bigger than 4.5” x 6.5” (11cm x 16.5cm).

Bags that do not meet size or material requirements may be permitted for medical reasons only. A medical certificate is no longer required for oversized bags needed for medical reasons.

For fans with bags that do not meet the bag policy requirements or with restricted items that are not deemed hazardous, storage will be available at the Restricted Item Storage area prior to entry on a first-come, first-serve basis. The service is subject to a fee.

Flags and flag poles

Please note that that flag poles are prohibited.

Small flags, banners and posters are permitted provided they do not exceed 2m x 1.5m (78 inches x 60 inches) and must be made of a low-flammable material. If a flag, banner or poster exceeds these dimensions, it must be approved in advance by event organisers.

Items of a political, offensive, sexual, discriminatory or promotional and commercial nature are strictly prohibited and may result in expulsion from the stadium.

Pyrotechnics

Fireworks, pyrotechnics, smoke bombs or grenades of any kind are strictly prohibited inside the stadium - and in some cases, are illegal. Please do not bring any of these as they are not prohibited and have in the past caused issues including people having their shirts burned.

FIFA Club World Cup 2025 App

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 App is available for devices with iOS 16 or later and Android 8 or later.

With the app you can access and manage tickets, keep up to date on tournament news and navigate stadiums with maps, policies and fan services info.

Travel to the stadium

The stadium address is:

1 MetLife Stadium Drive East Rutherford, NJ 07073

NJ Transit Rail: Trains leave from Secaucus Junction. Rail service commences approximately five hours prior to kick-off and ends three hours after the match. The travel time between the Secaucus Junction train station and Sports Complex station is approximately 10 minutes.

Rideshare: A designated rideshare zone is located in Lot E off adjacent to both the Verizon Gate and Walk Bridge. Be advised that rideshare surge pricing is often in effect after the game and larger crowds will result in longer than usual wait times (potentially over an hour wait) for a car to arrive and considerably higher prices than you paid coming to the stadium. You may want to consider using NJ TRANSIT, especially if you are traveling back to NYC. Please make sure your phone is charged and ready to go if you’re planning to use one of these services.

Accessible parking: This is available in Lots E, F and G with a valid, state-issued accessible parking license plate or hang tag being visible on any vehicle parking in these spaces. Traffic and parking staff will direct ticket holders with disabilities, or having limited mobility, to the designated parking spaces.
Drop-off and Pick-up: The dedicated drop-off area for fans with disabilities is located in Lot C, adjacent to the Verizon Gate.

Transport in NYC

FIFA has also supplied the following general information to assist transportation around in New York…

MTA New York City Transit
For an inexpensive and environmentally friendly way to explore the five boroughs, look no further than the MTA New York City Transit. Ride the subway or catch a bus to experience all the city has to offer. Your first step is to get an OMNY card, which can be purchased at any subway station from multilingual vending machines (which accept cash and credit and debit cards) or from booth attendants. For information about routes, check out the city’s subway and bus maps.

Regional Railroads

  • Long Island Rail Road: Service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with schedules that vary by destination and time of day. It covers over 700 miles of track on 11 branches, stretching from Montauk at
Long Island’s eastern tip to Penn Station in Manhattan, approximately 120 miles away.

  • Metro-North Railroad: Departing from Grand Central station, Metro‑North serves customers throughout New York and Connecticut on the Harlem, Hudson, New Haven, Port Jervis, and Pascack Valley lines.

Taxis
Grabbing a taxi is another convenient way to navigate the city, especially for visitors who are tired of walking or weighed down by luggage or shopping bags. Taxis are available 24 hours a day and can take passengers to any destination in New York City.

Walking and Biking
No matter what means of transportation you use to get around New York City, expect to walk a lot. The city is designed for it, and it’s easy to explore multiple attraction-packed neighborhoods on a single stroll. Biking is another popular – and environmentally friendly – way for locals and visitors alike to take in the sights; there are over 1,500 miles of bike lanes, more than a third of them protected. Visitors can rent a bike from Citi Bike, Unlimited Biking, or Cycle Park NYC, to name a few.

Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation (PATH)

PATH is a rail rapid-transit system that serves as the primary transit link between Manhattan (midtown and downtown) and neighboring New Jersey urban communities. It also connects to suburban commuter railroads. With multiple stations in New York and New Jersey, PATH is a handy way to travel through the region.

Ferries
Ferries can take you uptown, downtown, or between boroughs.
