Raheem Sterling believes that tomorrow’s game against Wolves presents a good opportunity to return to winning ways.

After a disappointing defeat at the hands of his former club Liverpool earlier this week, the dynamic winger is determined to begin February with three points and return to the positive form that had been building prior to our visit to Anfield.

The 29-year-old is expecting a tough game at the Bridge when we welcome Wolves, but Sterling is hopeful of a response from the Blues in front of the Chelsea faithful.

‘It’s a good chance to get back on track,’ Sterling began.

‘We’ve had good results in the weeks before and we’re slowly building. But we need to react quickly and get our season back on the way. Wolves are always a difficult team to play with how they play, but it’s ultimately down to us.

‘We need to stamp our authority on the game, have more aggression in our game. We have to have the right focus and use the disappointment we had in the week to help us go again, build confidence, and get the three points.’

Sterling believes that the current crop of players wearing Blue are developing into a promising outfit with bumps along the road expected.

‘It’s a good group, bags of potential, and slowly we’re forming into a good team,’ he continued.

‘It’s a new team with lots of new players, and we’re in one cup final and trying to get into another, but the Premier League is the most important thing for us this season because we want to get back into the Champions League.

‘There is work to do on that because that is where this football club belongs to be. So, we need to be more consistent in the Premier League.’

Chelsea’s number seven also praised Mauricio Pochettino’s high expectations, explaining that the boss only expects the best from his squad, driving up the competitiveness within the ranks.

Sterling added: ‘He’s a manager who demands high standards, which is what we need as a group. He motivates you, wants us to get into teams’ faces and be competitive, that is the side he brings out of us.

‘He’s a genuine person, a very good person, but he also has a competitive nature and wants to win. He demands a lot from everyone and that is what you get from all the top managers.

‘It’s not just today and tomorrow, it’s every single day that he demands high standards from us. So it has been great working under him so far.’
