Hassan Sulaiman's side have a 100 per cent record in all competitions this season but the Under-18s head coach still believes there is room for greater improvement.

The Chelsea Under-18s are back in action this weekend following the international break as Fulham are welcomed to Cobham.

Saturday morning's game is a chance for our boys to continue their fine start to the season. A win would mean Sulaiman's team will be the only one in the league that still maintains a 100 per cent record.

'I look back at pre-season and that has contributed heavily to the start,' said Sulaiman. 'The experience some of the squad received from going away with the Under-21s combined with the boys who were within the Under-18s set-up all came together to create a productive summer period.

'As an Academy, we continue to build a culture of togetherness. We want all the boys to have an understanding of each other's game, so that they are able to make independent decisions.'

Crystal Palace and Norwich were the first two games of the season and in addition to the positive results in both, Sulaiman was pleased with how different the wins were.

'The first game saw us dig in. We created multiple opportunities but we could not put the ball in the back of the net. The key in these situations is to remain calm and believe that we will score and against Palace we did the job necessary.'

When talking about the Aston Villa game, Sulaiman said: 'I was pleased with the ruthlessness of the team. We have shown two sides to our character so early on, so that is promising, but it is early doors and we cannot get carried away.'

The focus now is on maintaining the consistency in approach, application and performance.

'They need to earn the right to play every single day, work hard and make sure you are taking your chances. There are no secrets, the fundamentals are the most important thing and if players are constantly driving the team ethic and thinking "what can I continue to do to be the best player for the team", then we can continue to succeed.'

He added: 'The coaching team that I work with are all doing a great job and we try to ensure that we are doing everything that we can to put the players in the best position to succeed.'

Our Under-18s match against Fulham kicks off at 11am on Saturday, before the Under-21s start their International Premier League Cup campaign at Kingsmeadow later that day in a 2pm kick-off against Lyon.
