Frank Lampard makes three changes to the side that started at Old Trafford on Sunday, including bringing Christian Pulisic into the team for his full Chelsea debut and a return for N’Golo Kante.

Mason Mount and Ross Barkley make way for that duo, while upfront Olivier Giroud leads the attack in place of Tammy Abraham.

With Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho all starting there is the possibility of a shift to a 4-3-3 shape from the 4-2-3-1 set-up we saw at Old Trafford. Kante played the closing stages in Manchester and has now been deemed fit enough to feature from the off.

Willian and Toni Rudiger are on the bench.

Liverpool start with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the front three and James Milner in midfield.

Chelsea are expected to line up in the following 4-3-3 formation:

Kepa; Azpilicueta (c), Zouma, Christensen, Emerson; Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic; Pedro, Giroud, Pulisic.

Subs: Caballero, Rudiger, Tomori, Alonso, Zappacosta, Gilmour, Barkley, Mount, Kenedy, Willian, Batshuayi, Abraham.

Liverpool line up as follows:

Adrian, Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Milner, Fabinho, Henderson (c), Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Mane.

Liverpool subs: Lonergan, Kelleher, Hoever, Alexander-Arnold, Elliott, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Firmino, Lallana, Brewster, Origi.

Chelsea's recent record in Europe

The Blues reached the Super Cup by beating Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final in Baku in May.

Chelsea remained unbeaten in Europe last season (12 wins, three draws), which is also a Europa League record.

Frank Lampard’s side are looking to extend our club record 15-game unbeaten run in Europe. Our last defeat was in March 2018, at Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 (0-3).

We have scored three or more goals in five of our last eight European matches. Our total of 36 goals last term was one short of the Europa League record, set by Porto in 2010/11.
